About Far Flung
A dotted globe for Framer that turns to the places you name. Press a place, or tab to it and press Enter, and the globe turns it to the middle and opens a card with its name, a line of detail and a link. Press it again, Close or Escape to shut the card, and focus goes back to the place.
Every place is a real button a keyboard reaches, including the ones on the far side of the planet: tab to one and the globe turns to meet it. Or add a list of places under the globe and steer it from there.
It is drawn in the page's own HTML: no WebGL, no library, no map service and no request at runtime. The land is Natural Earth's outline, public domain, built into the file, so the globe is on the page before any script runs.
Coordinates paste straight from a map app, "51.5072, -0.1276" or "51.5072 N, 0.1276 W", and a place whose coordinates are cleared is left off with a warning, never dropped at 0, 0. Arcs join the first place to the rest, or each place to the next, lifted over the surface and hidden where they pass behind it.
It turns by itself, turns under a finger or a mouse and glides when thrown, and it stops while a card is open, while someone hovers or reads it, when it is off screen and for visitors who ask for less motion. Dot spacing and size, globe size, shade, glow, grid lines, labels, pins, fonts and every colour are controls.
