About Magnify Dock
Magnify Dock is a floating navigation dock in the style of the macOS dock. The tile under the pointer grows the most, the tiles next to it grow a little, and tiles farther away stay at their normal size. When the pointer leaves the dock, every tile returns to its normal size.
Each item has an icon, a label and a link. Pick the icon with the image picker. If you leave it empty, a built-in glyph is chosen from common labels such as Home, Work, About and Contact, or the first letter of the label is shown. An older "Icon URL (legacy)" field is still read when the image picker is empty.
Links open in the same tab by default. Turn on "New Tab" on an item to open it in a new tab.
The label is used as the link's accessible name, so tiles that show only a glyph or letter still have a name for screen readers. The label also appears as a tooltip on hover and when a tile gets keyboard focus, and focused tiles get an accent ring.
Controls:
- Items: icon, label, link and New Tab for each tile
- Magnify: size of the tile under the pointer, from 1 (off) to 2.5
- Position: Top or Bottom. Tiles and tooltips open away from that edge
- Font: used for tooltips and letter tiles
- Accent: glyph colour and the hover and focus border
With reduced motion turned on in the visitor's system settings, tiles do not change size. Tooltips still appear. On the canvas and in static exports, the dock shows its tiles at rest without any effect.
