About Atomic Globe

An interactive 3D globe built from thousands of glowing particles that assemble into the world's continents. Fully rendered in WebGL (Three.js) with no image maps or network requests — the landmasses come from a baked-in coastline field, so it just works.

Features

  • Particle assembly animation: choose how the globe forms (a sweep, a bloom out of the core, particles falling in from a scattered cloud, an endless drift that never settles, or an instant appearance)

  • Drag to explore: grab and spin the globe in any direction, with optional vertical tilt and a natural spring-back. Auto-rotation runs frame-rate-independently, so motion stays smooth on any display.

  • Cursor effects: three ways to respond to the pointer. Sonar sends rings rippling outward across the surface, Halo lights the area without displacing it, and Wake combs the particles along your direction of travel.

  • Place markers: pin any number of locations by latitude/longitude, styled as a pulsing Beacon or a Pin with five icon choices (Needle, Teardrop, Ring, Diamond, Flag). Click a beacon to fly the globe to it and expand a rich card with an image, description, and call-to-action button.

  • Animated flight paths: connect your places with routes in five styles.

  • Themes: four built-in palettes or a fully custom color set.

  • Customizable: grouped controls for colors, places, place styling, the point field, cursor behavior, motion & framing, entrance, routes, and advanced performance settings — with live tuning throughout.

  • Performance-aware: auto-detects low-end and mobile devices and scales accordingly. Also respects reduced-motion preference.
